Bharatanatyam is one of the oldest classical dance form which initiated in the hindu temples of Tamil Nadu, whose theory traces back to Natya shastra. Basically learning Bharatanatyam can be classified under 3 aspects:

Mohiniyattam is a dance form which originated and remained popular in Kerala. It is traditionally a solo dance performed by women after extensive training. It follows the Lasya style described in Natya Shastra.
