Maison Perumal, Puducherry (Tamil Quarter)

This is a beautiful period villa in the heart of the Tamil quarter. We had a beautiful spacious room on the first floor which had the largest door key of any hotel we have ever stayed in. We arrived just in time for a late dinner which was a set menu with mahe mahe and grilled prawns as the main dish with typical Tamal flavour notes. In fact breakfast and lunch the following day were also beautifully prepared. All of the staff couldn’t do enough to ensure we had a relaxed and enjoyable two night stay. Until now we had not stayed at any of the cgh earth hotels, but the next time we come to India we definitely will.

Absolutely loved our week here at Maison Perumal, a beautiful little eight-room heritage hotel with wonderful staff. The chef gave a cookery demonstration every night, and the set menu in the restaurant was utterly delicious ... local, organic food beautifully cooked to order (and you are asked how spicy you like it!). Nothing was too much trouble. When my husband rented a Royal Enfield Bullet bike for the day and couldn't start it, they came out and got him going, then took our photo for us as we gingerly set off. No pool, but you can use the one at their sister hotel down the road. Laundry came back the same day, Wi Fi was great. We were made to feel part of the family. Thanks CGH Earth hotels!

The dining experience together with the hospitality and warmth of the staff makes you want to just eat here again and again. The quality of seafood is simply fresh.
