Spice Village, Thekkady

Probably one of the highlights of our group's (seven) tour of South India. We opted to stay here for three nights from 18 to 20 January 2019, and there were no regrets from any of us. The cottages were spread out over the property and the guided walk around the property was quiet, tranquil and informative. Almost everything in this property is recycled and eco-friendly. Rooms were comfortable and well catered for. Collectively we felt that prices for the meals at the restaurant were a bit on the high side in comparison to other hotels, but allowance needs to be made about the use of local products. The staff were extremely friendly and always helpful.

The ECO ethic is well and truly embedded and the staff are totally committed to it. They are rightly proud of their environment and look after the wildlife and flora/fauna with dedication and care. This extends to their guests. They were always asking if we were happy and were at pains to make us comfortable. We were there during the dreadful floods the area suffered and the diligence they took to ensuring our safety and well-being was beyond compare. I will definitely return one day and I thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Wonderful Property & People! Hats off to the team. Stayed 2 nights with kids at Deluxe villa Children had activities which connect them to nature and, they rewarded them with gift on successful completion of activity. We had both dinner & breakfast at hotel itself. Food & Deserts was excellent. Staffs at Dinning dept were very courteous & happy to help always with big smile. Service was beyond our expectations & was very family friendly. They made it very touching and special on our check out by giving a pleasant send off. Hats off to the team.

This property oozes character with it''s thatched cottages and landscaped gardens. The rooms are spotlessly clean with comfortable beds and a sitting area. There were even chairs on the verandah where you could relax and enjoy the birds singing. The Periyar tiger reserve was in easy reach, as were many local shops which were worth a visit. We only spent two days here but loved the place. The staff were friendly, the food was good and there were cookery demonstrations and entertainment to keep everyone happy. The only negative thing I can think of were the mosquitoes but the cottages were protected with burners and mesh guards on the windows. A small price to pay for such a wonderful place to stay.

We stayed here 12 years ago and decided to return with friends.They gave us a surprise drink to welcome us back and also produced a special cake. We felt very special. The cottage rooms are very well equipped and situated around a beautiful garden area. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was really good and locally produced.
